The Colombia Check-Mig system
is a mandatory digital registration system
introduced by Migración Colombia to streamline entry and exit procedures, making travel more
efficient, secure, and convenient. All travelers—whether Colombian nationals, residents, or
foreign visitors—must complete the form online prior to arriving in or departing from Colombia.
This digital process is part of Colombia’s commitment to modernize border control, enhance traveler information screening, and reduce waiting times at immigration checkpoints. Whether you are traveling for tourism, business, study, or to reunite with family, the MIG Arrival Card ensures that your personal, travel, and health details are submitted in advance for a smoother border experience.
From discovering Bogotá’s historic streets and Medellín’s innovation hubs to relaxing on the Caribbean beaches of Cartagena or exploring Colombia’s coffee region, completing the MIG Arrival Card is a crucial step in preparing for your journey to or from Colombia.
The official currency of Colombia is the Colombian peso (COP), introduced in 1810. Its symbol is $ or COL$. While the peso is the standard currency, US dollars (USD) are sometimes accepted in tourist areas, though it is generally recommended to use pesos for everyday transactions. ATMs and currency exchange services are widely available.
The official language of Colombia is Spanish, spoken by the vast majority of the population. English is used in some tourist regions, especially in major cities and on the islands of San Andrés and Providencia, but travelers are encouraged to know basic Spanish for ease of communication. Indigenous languages are also spoken in specific regions.
Approximately 52 million (2023 estimate).
Colombia has a diverse climate due to its varied geography. Coastal and lowland regions experience a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, while the Andean highlands enjoy cooler, spring-like conditions. Bogotá, for example, averages around 14°C (57°F), while Cartagena and the Caribbean coast average 27–30°C (80–86°F). Rainy seasons vary by region, but generally occur between April–June and September–November. Because of its location near the equator, Colombia has consistent daylight hours throughout the year.

After you complete your Colombia MIG (Check-Mig) form, the submission is sent directly to Migración Colombia’s official immigration system. Travelers typically receive a confirmation once the registration has been successfully submitted.
When accepted, the MIG form is electronically linked to your passport and travel record within Colombia’s immigration system. There is no need to print or present a separate document at the border — immigration officers can verify your details electronically. A new MIG form is required for each entry or exit from Colombia and must be completed online before traveling.
If there are problems with the submission — such as missing, incomplete, or incorrect details — you may be required to update or re-submit the form before boarding or upon arrival. It is important to ensure all personal and travel information is accurate to prevent delays at immigration.
Our role is to assist travelers in completing the Colombia MIG form accurately and on time. The final review, acceptance, and verification of the MIG submission are carried out solely by Migración Colombia.
